A Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate rates your home's energy performance on a scale between A and G.

A-rated homes are the most energy efficient while G-rated are the least energy efficient. A BER is required when and existing dwelling is sold or rented or when a new dwelling is built for sale. BER assessments are also required to validate certain home energy retrofit measures that are funded through the SEAI grant schemes.

A Domestic BER involves a measured building survey of your home; including glazing size, type and orientation, the building’s fabric details and examination of the mechanical systems. This data is then entered into the Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure, (DEAP) software  and lodged with the national BER register to produce the BER certificate and advisory report.
